subtitle.im
subtitle.im — Chrome extension for YouTube captions, with local duplicate detection.
About subtitle.im
subtitle.im manages existing YouTube captions in Chrome. Choose follow YouTube, automatically on or automatically off across videos. Local OCR detects burned-in subtitles to help handle duplicate soft captions according to your settings. Restore captions anytime. Try 10 successfully handled videos without signup; optional Pro supports continued handling, channel rules, video exceptions and memory of confirmed closures. It does not generate, translate, download or remove burned-in subtitles.
- Who it is for
- YouTube viewers using Chrome who want consistent caption preferences and fewer duplicate captions.
- Problem it solves
- YouTube soft captions can overlap with subtitles already burned into the video, while viewers need to repeat caption choices across videos and channels.
- The solution
- Set a global caption preference. Local OCR checks for burned-in subtitles and helps handle duplicate soft captions according to the saved settings, with restoration available anytime.
- What makes it unique
- Local OCR for duplicate-caption detection combines with three caption modes, Pro channel rules, video exceptions and memory of confirmed closures. It does not generate or translate subtitles.
