IcyZip — Pair two browsers by QR code to move live text and one file with browser-side end-to-end encryption—no account or app.

About IcyZip

IcyZip is a browser-based handoff tool for moving text, links, code snippets and a selected file between two devices. Open IcyZip on one device, scan its QR code or open the private pairing link on the second, and keep both browser views open while they are connected.

The browsers encrypt content before it is relayed. The service sees operational connection data and, for offered files, the filename, type and size; it does not receive plaintext transfer content. Files are sent one at a time, up to 25 MiB each, and multiple transfers can be made sequentially.

IcyZip requires no account or app installation. It is a currently free hosted service, not cloud storage, folder sync, offline pickup, LAN discovery or peer-to-peer transfer. The isolated E2E implementation and runnable tests are published under Apache-2.0 for inspection.

Who it is for
People moving text, links, code snippets or an occasional file between their own phone, tablet and computer.
Problem it solves
Moving a small piece of text or one file between personal devices often means signing into a cloud drive, messaging yourself, installing an app or exposing content to another service. Clipboard permissions also vary across browsers and devices.
The solution
Open IcyZip on one device, scan the QR code or open its private link on the other, and keep both browser views open. Text stays editable on both sides, and a selected file can be offered directly to the paired browser, one at a time up to 25 MiB.
What makes it unique
IcyZip combines a live two-browser text field with occasional file handoff, without requiring an account or app. Transfer content is encrypted in the browsers before relay. The isolated E2E code and runnable tests are public for inspection; the hosted service is intentionally not cloud storage, sync, offline pickup or P2P.
