Sitting-Rising Test Scorer
Score the sitting-rising test out of 10, a no-equipment floor sit-to-stand check of strength, balance and mobility that research has linked to all-cause mortality.
The sitting-rising test is one of the most informative things you can measure about yourself without any equipment at all. You lower yourself to the floor and stand back up, starting from a score of 10 and losing a point for each hand, knee or forearm you need for support, plus half a point for any loss of balance. This free scorer from Catalyst Performance, a longevity-focused personal training studio in the Singapore CBD, turns that into a number and explains what the number means.
It is worth knowing because the test is not just a mobility drill. The original research followed adults over years and found that people scoring in the lowest band had markedly higher all-cause mortality than those scoring near the top. That is because getting off the floor unaided is a composite skill: it needs leg strength, hip and ankle mobility, balance, and enough body composition margin to move your own mass. Those are exactly the four things that decide whether someone stays independent into later decades.
The scorer runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, no email capture and no server call, so nothing you enter is stored, and the maths is deterministic rather than a guess dressed up as a result. The scoring rules and the study behind them are published on the page rather than summarised away, and the tool is explicit that a self-administered score is a directional check, not a clinical assessment.
It is one of eleven free calculators in the same suite, alongside fitness age, VO2 max percentile against the FRIEND reference registry, grip strength against the AWGS sarcopenia thresholds, waist-to-height ratio, GLP-1 muscle loss, fat loss timelines, running pace prediction, heart rate training zones, protein intake and body fat percentage. All eleven are free to embed on any other website with a copy-and-paste snippet.
